Waitangi is a Christian with five siblings and lives in the small rural town of Ruatoria where she was raised by her grandparents. She has a degree majoring in Maori Studies and another in Maori Visual Arts. Her early career path concentrated around child care, youth work and Kaiawhina. She is currently a part time Iwi radio announcer, and is also involved in developing an art business called ‘Wepua’.

Justice, Truth and Sovereignty are Waitangi's key values. When she saw that our fundamental rights and freedoms were being stripped away from us, she felt she had to do something for the sake of Aotearoa and for future generations. Advance NZ is the party she is with because she sees it as the party that will dare to stand firm, ask the tough questions and shout the truth from the rooftops.

She wishes to contribute in the following areas:

  • Affordable Housing - because it is unacceptable to see our Maori people living in cars, sheds, garages and caravans.
  • Environment - including watercare as well as investigating 1080 and better forestry management.
  • Holistic Health - including the Tapawha model and natural remedies.
